Mission Statement
To utilize the endowment provided by Dick Gilbert in the support of programs designed by charitable organizations that are focused on child development and education, as well as charitable programs in the Louisville Kentucky area that are civic or cultural in nature. The Gilbert Foundation favors programs which incorporate metrics to gauge the effectiveness of sponsored activities.
Grant Application Guidelines
Grants will be made only to organizations which qualify as "public" (non-private) charities - a special designation within the 501(c)3 IRS classification known as a "509" organization. In addition , the project to be funded must be geographically located within a 50-mile radius of Louisville, Kentucky.

The Gilbert Foundation has been distributing grants in the Louisville, Kentucky area since 2002. The median value of grants issued is approximately $3,000. The Board of Directors meets quarterly to review grant applications; grant applications may be submitted at any time throughout the year.
