Mission Statement
The mission of the Kentucky Foundation for Women is to promote positive social change through varied feminist expression in the arts. KFW offers two distinct grant programs. The Artist Enrichment program funds feminist artists and arts organizations whose efforts promote social change who wish to create new artworks or enhance their abilities and skills to make art. The deadline for Artist Enrichment is during the first week of September each year. The Art Meets Activism funds feminist artists and arts organizations to develop and implement work that is directly focused on social change outcomes. The deadline for Art Meets Activisim is during the first week of March each Year.
Grant Application Guidelines
KFW asks that each applicatn complet a short application form and write a proposal which answers six specific questions. Each applicatn should also submit a budget, resume or summary of art experience, two letters of recommendation, and a work sample.
Additional Information for Grant Seekers
KFW uses a peer panel review process in which two to three independent artists review each application based on the following criteria: demonstration of high artistic merit; explanation of the artists relationship to feminism and understanding of the relationship between art and social change; clear work plan and realistic budget; evidence of ability to successfully complete the proposed activities.

7 Can you make a strong statement about how your proposed grant activities express your own understanding of feminism? (The Kentucky Foundation for Women does not promote a single definition of feminism, recognizing that it varis across demographic and geographic communities)
8 Do you believe your proposed grant activities have the potential to create positive social change for the citizens of Kentucky?
