Emerging Executives Institute
Meeting the Needs of Tomorrow with the Talent of Today


The Center for Nonprofit Excellence’s (CNPE) Emerging Executives Institute is designed to educate and empower Louisville’s next generation of nonprofit leaders. This intensive, multi-faceted three-day practicum, is targeted to nonprofit employees who are committed to a long-term career in the nonprofit sector.
The Emerging Executives Institute helps participants prepare themselves for a successful career in nonprofit management and leadership by providing foundational knowledge about these organizations and by providing opportunities for understanding and growth of each individual’s leadership capacity.
Specifically, the curriculum focuses on identifying individual leadership practices and building the skills needed to be successful in leading nonprofit organizations into the future. Participants in the program complete the nationally acclaimed StrengthsFinder 2.0 Leadership Assessment. Based on your own unique individual results, you will work with peers to identify strategies for growth while building on successes, and identifying an advanced career path in the nonprofit sector.

The Center for Nonprofit Excellence's (CNPE) Emerging Executives Institute is designed to educate and empower Louisville's next generation of nonprofit leaders. An intensive, multi-faceted, three-day practicum, this program identifies strong leadership behaviors and provides a solid foundation for participants to lead and manage nonprofit organizations. Specifically, the curriculum will focus on individual leadership styles and building the skills needed to become successful executives in nonprofit organizations.
Participants will complete an online leadership assessment.
Wednesday, June 27, 2012 - All About Your Leadership Potential
The first day is devoted to understanding the leadership landscape among nonprofits both nationally and in the Louisville area. We will discuss qualities and qualifications that nonprofits are looking for as they plan for succession. Additionally, participants will learn more about their scores on StrengthsFinder 2.0 and how those strengths and opportunities for improvement reflect their potential capacity to lead.
Thursday, June 28, 2012 - Transformation: Leadership Success
Participants will learn firsthand the traits and skills that are needed to be successful executives based upon research and from the insights that guest speaker executives will offer to the group. The group will explore topics such as challenges of executive leadership and how that translates, in practical terms, into best practices for nonprofit management.
Friday, June 29, 2012 - Connecting It All
Drawing on the experiences and insights from day one and two, the final session is devoted to developing each person's path for change and growth in preparation for future leadership roles in the sector.
