Nonprofit Endowment Survey rss feed

In today’s difficult economic conditions, nonprofits are facing considerable financial challenges: budgets are under severe pressure, fundraising is very competitive, and endowments have lost substantial value. For many nonprofits, endowment assets are the key financial pillar on which its mission rests.

The Center for Nonprofit Excellence (“CNPE”) and Louisville Philanthropic Advisors (“LPA”), an independent, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization are working together to explore the concept of developing a service to assist the local and regional nonprofit community in the stewardship of their endowment assets.

Through the services of a third-party research company, CNPE and LPA are conducting a research study to outline the current position and financial challenges facing today’s nonprofit community.  We understand that some organizations have concerns about sharing this type of information.  That is why we have commissioned a third-party research company to gather and analyze all information for this study.  IQS Research is fully versed in conducting studies of this type and will confidentially gather and analyze all information.

At no point will anyone outside IQS Research have access to your specific information.

Before we can begin this initiative, we need to have a full understanding of your organization’s stewardship of its endowment assets. That is where you come in. First we need to gather some confidential information from the nonprofit community. This information will allow us to better understand your challenges and consequently, tailor a potential approach to suit your requirements.

Once we have this snapshot, we will share the complete results of our findings with you. The survey will provide you with useful benchmarks versus your peers in the nonprofit community and where there are opportunities to improve.  Further, we intend to continue the survey annually as it will be a useful benchmarking tool for the entire nonprofit community.

We anticipate that it will take about 30 minutes to complete all parts of a survey and you may want involvement from your finance committee to answer some of the questions.  The survey can be completed on-line, and a copy of the survey can be downloaded from the main survey page.

In the next few days, IQS Research will contact you by e-mail to ask for your participation in the study.  This e-mail will contain instructions for accessing the study and directions for completion.  You will have until September 30, 2009 to complete the survey.

We sincerely hope you will take the time necessary to participate in this study, as we believe it will make a significant difference for your organization and the entire nonprofit community. You may access the survey here.

In the meantime, if you have any questions about the study you are welcome to contact IQS Research directly at 502-244-6600.
