The CNPE Membership and Learning Assistant will be tasked with bringing  CNPE capacity building tools and resources to organizations in high poverty communities. This position will be fast-paced and will present a unique opportunity to become introduced to the Louisville nonprofit community. Great for career starters, and changers!

Job Description:

VISTA Membership and Learning Assistant

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WORK

- Help to coordinate activities for members participating in the various CNPE affinity groups.
- Assist facilitator in conducting and preparing for affinity group meetings and activities.
- Assist in securing locations and guest speakers for affinity group meetings.
- Assist in demographic research, survey creation and compilation, and conducts phone interviews about member services and needs.
- If the candidate chooses, they may present a proposal to complete one full length research project and report under the direction of the Director of Learning, provided that proposal’s topic is applicable to the work of CNPE

EXAMPLES OF THE WORK

- Scribe notes from meetings, and affinity group activities.
- Utilizes the CNPE Library, refereed Journals, public records, and other research tools to help participants and facilitator prepare for affinity group meetings.
- Creates and Maintains a quick reference tool for participants and the larger community on CNPE website and offline.
- Contributes research and brief articles to the CNPE website and eNewsletter ideas generated through affinity conversations.
- Attends staff & other meetings.
- Conducts phone and small group surveys of general member body to learn about specific needs.
- Performs administrative duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS NECESSARY TO THE WORK

- Must be a self-starter and able to function with and without close supervision.
- Must be able to work both independently and within a team.
- Knowledge of statistics, and research methods.
- Superior written and spoken communication skills.
- Ability to develop professional reports, white papers, and presentations.
- Superior ability and eagerness to engage constituents directly.
- Skill, tact and diplomacy when dealing with customers, staff and the public.
- Knowledge of facilitation techniques and classroom/learning environment techniques.
- Superior in the use of personal computers, office productivity software and common business
- Computer technologies (e.g., Windows, Office, Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, printers, and scanners)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

- BA/BS Degree and experience in learning environments

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

- Must be willing to work with flexibility of schedule.
- Must have access to transportation to attend meetings, events and various functions as required.
