Kentucky Habitat for Humanity Inc. State Support Organization- Director-Resource Development

Mission: Kentucky Habitat for Humanity, Inc. supports and encourages an effective network of KY HFH affiliates through the creation of new affiliates, resource development, advocacy, capacity building, mentoring and prayer.

The Director of Development is a key member of Kentucky Habitat for Humanity’s administrative team reporting to the Executive Director and the chair of the Finance Committee and Resource Development committee.
The Director of Development is responsible for leading the state organizations advancement, as it pertains to sustainability as well as assisting in the sustainability of our 52 Habitat affiliates, as adopted by the Board of Directors. The Director will also be responsible for developing and maintaining active and productive relationships with board members, donors, administration and our Habitat affiliates.

Specific areas of responsibility include:

Fundraising

• Designs, implements and manages all fundraising activities, which can include annual giving, endowment and capital campaigns, special projects.
• Manages all strategies and activities for donor cultivation, solicitation, and relations.
• Maintains contact with and develops grant proposals for foundations and corporations, both as pertains to the state office and our 52 affiliates.
• Develops a comprehensive planned-giving program(as the need becomes appropriate.)
• Works with already proven successful fundraising programs and resource development partners

Board of Trustees Relations

• Works with the Finance/Budget/Allocation and Resource Development Committees of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Director to develop strategies to initiate and meet aggressive fundraising goals.
• Develops fundraising learning for Directors and other leadership volunteers.
• Assumes responsibility for all Development reports to the Board and other agencies, and attends all Board meetings, which are held quarterly both in person and tele-conference calls
• Assists the Board with recommending and researching potential new members.

Affiliate Relations

• Works with our current 52 Habitat affiliates to develop strategies to initiate fundraising goals
• Develops fundraising learning for Habitat affiliates
• Assists affiliates with recommending and researching potential new fundraising goals

Development Office Infrastructure

• Creates office systems to support all Development projects and operations.
• Supervises donor and gift record keeping.
• Coordinates development research activities.
• Oversees the management of databases and all records, files, and gift processing.
• Manages the pledge reminder and acknowledgement programs.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 1-2 years professional fundraising experience
• Proven experience in designing and managing development programs.
• Experience with developing and maintaining productive working relationships with board members, donors, administrators and affiliates
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work as a leader and as part of a team.
• Some travel will be required
• Habitat for Humanity knowledge and experience is a plus, but not required.
