A Bit About Amanda

Amanda Rogerson grew-up in Humboldt County on the far northern coast of California before moving to Walla Walla, Washington to attend Whitman College. After receiving her BA in Politics, Amanda worked for a nonpartisan, nonprofit in Portland, Oregon engaging young people in the political process and registering them to vote. She then worked for the Union Newspaper in Grass Valley, California, for Sequoia National Park in Three Rivers, CA and the Friends Committee on Legislation in Sacramento, CA before returning to graduate school. In 2009, Amanda received her Master’s Degree in Global Politics and Intercultural Studies from the University of Wales. Amanda has long been interested in working in the nonprofit sector and thus happily joined CNPE in June as their VISTA Research Coordinator.

A Bit about VISTA

VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is a federally funded service program specifically intended to help alleviate poverty in the United States. VISTAs work at local nonprofit and government agencies throughout the United States developing programs and policies that enhance the capacity of organizations directly serving individuals and communities coping with poverty. Consequently, as CNPE’s new VISTA, Amanda’s job over the coming year will be to act as a resource for CNPE member organizations who serve Louisville’s lowest income residents.

How to Engage Her

In order to help Amanda do her job, we have a survey for you to take. If your organization’s mission includes, to some significant degree, serving community members with severely limited financial resources, Amanda would greatly appreciate it if you would use the following survey to outline your organization’s immediate needs as well as how she and CNPE can best help your organization build capacity in the coming year and years.
