Position: Program Director
Reports To: Director of Operations

ABOUT THE STEWARD’S STAFF

The Steward’s Staff is dedicated to empowering youth and young adults through leadership development, community engagement, and positive reinforcement of self-esteem.
To date, The Steward’s Staff has served over 320 youth, awarded 8 college scholarships & 3 computers, and escorted hundreds of youth on college tours. 100% of the students who participated in our programs matriculated to college upon graduation. Further, our youth leadership program, The E.T.H.I.C.S. Society, won a $1,000 Youth Venture grant sponsored by Metro United Way.
Ultimately, we seek to facilitate programming for at least 75% of JCPS middle and high schools. Our diverse programming promotes high school graduation, completion of higher education and community development. The Steward’s Staff has a vision and goal of being a national-based organization.
In the time of a recession, The Steward’s Staff is growing financially and geographically in its programming. Program demand requires the addition of this position. The Steward’s Staff is not only a successful start-up, small business (Est. May 2007), but it is also a progressive, innovative youth services nonprofit corporation.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR

The Program Director is responsible for providing a safe environment for program youth. Daily, this professional will facilitate The Steward’s Staff’s innovative programming, utilizing its customized curriculum. Therefore, this person will spend 80% of their time with middle and high school youth. It is imperative this individual is an active listener and trustworthy. High moral character and integrity are a must for this vital role within our team. This individual will be a valued and empowered professional in this role, encouraged to be creative, innovative and inspired to be a quality leader.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Supervise and participate with groups of youth in a variety activities
  • Plan and lead organized, age appropriate activities in accordance with program mission statements.
  • Interact and relate with youth and serve as a positive role model.
  • Be an ambassador for The Steward’s Staff at all times.
  • Carry out the goals, themes and schedule of the program to provide a consistent and high quality experience.
  • Management of the enrichment and recreation program offerings – including program planning, marketing, and customer service.
  • Collecting and verifying required certifications and paperwork for all volunteers and participants.
  • Developing and managing activity plans, supplies and logistics.
  • Spearhead the registration and confirmation process for program registrants.
  • Oversee the implementation of programs, including staff preparation and follow through.
  • Organize materials and represent the organization at various special events and community activities.
  • Assist in evaluation and annual reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS

He or she must have a passion for the mission of The Steward’s Staff. This professional must be self-motivated and accountable. The successful candidate will have experience in public speaking and group facilitation. Youth service may serve as a plus. The ideal candidate will be flexible with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to work successfully under pressure and meet deadlines. Candidate must successfully pass background check. CPR/First Aid is a plus.

COMPENSATION

Compensation is negotiable.
