JOB DESCRIPTION


To perform a variety of duties involved in volunteer recruitment and coordination for the ECHO Family Court Playroom.

PROJECT OPERATIONS
• Develop and implement project goals and objectives following grant guidelines
• Maintain and form cooperative partnerships with Family Court personnel that will enhance services to the targeted population – people with children in the court setting
• Coordinate promotional activities that enhance the knowledge of the court personnel and victim families regarding the availability and need for the Family Court Playroom
• Provide leadership support to volunteers to provide Playroom services
• Coordinate and collaborate with other ECHO staff and volunteers on project plan
• Identify community resources to assist with future sustainability of the project
• Keep accurate records and logs and prepare progress reports on project activities and operations with quantitative and qualitative data in accordance with grant guidelines
• Coordinate and collaborate with current ECHO Playroom staff and volunteers
• Report and work under the direction of the Executive Director of ECHO

VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT
• Recruit and train 15 volunteers to provide services in the Family Court Playroom
• Emphasize ECHO’s need for daytime volunteers
• Present talks on ECHO volunteer opportunities to service organizations and media outlets such as radio, television, newspapers, and social media
• Make personal contacts with volunteer coordinators at all local colleges and universities
• Work with other ECHO staff to develop new volunteer recruitment materials

PROJECT SUSTAINABILITY
• Research and contact corporate sponsorships and private and public funding sources to increase project sustainability
• Establish and maintain relationships with current and potential corporate and foundation sponsors and individual donors
• Raising awareness of ECHO’s Family Court Playroom project and its work at the local level. This may involve presenting to various groups and addressing the media

Detailed Activities:
• Attend all required training and staff meetings
• Become well acquainted with the Family Court Playroom including the Family Court personnel, Playroom procedures and regulations, and meet experienced ECHO volunteers
• Work with all staff to implement the ECHO Volunteer Recruitment Plan
• Attend meetings of KAVA, KY. Assoc. of Volunteer Administrators and participate in other training opportunities
• Research online resources on Volunteer Coordination
• Schedule volunteer recruitment programs weekly
• Develop outcome measurement tools to assess performance and effectiveness of volunteer activities
• Work with all staff to develop volunteer recruitment materials
• Schedule radio and TV interviews as well as place notices in free newspapers and magazines to recruit volunteers
• Staff the Family Court Playroom with volunteers at least three shifts per week
• Overall goal: Expand the Family Court Playroom hours and ensure 15 new volunteers have been recruited

OTHER ACTIVITIES AS REQUESTED BY THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

MINIMUM EDUCATION/WORK REQUIREMENTS
• This is a 1 year federally funded, time limited position
• This is a part-time position, 20 hours per week, flexible hours between 8:30 to 3:00
• This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or four year’s comparable work experience in a related field
• Demonstrates effective oral and communication skills and the ability to work effectively as a team player with minimal supervision
• Exhibits excellent verbal communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills to effectively work with a variety of people and personalities
• Excellent computer skills and experience with Office 2007, including Word, Excel and Power Point
• Current and valid driver’s license, liability insurance and reliable transportation
• This position requires local travel and the ability to transport Playroom materials and supplies to the Family Court Playroom location
• Insurance benefits are not provided to part-time employees
• ECHO provides mileage reimbursement, paid vacation and holidays
