Cliff Whalin

Management, Communications and Development

Cliff has over 20 years in management, communications and development experience with corporate and non-profit organizations. He has served as a partner in Whalin Public Relations, Inc., a full-service marketing communications firm founded in 2000. The firm specializes in creating and implementing effective strategic communications plans that serve as a “roadmap” to guide all marketing, public relations and advertising functions for clients.

Additionally, he counsels non-profit organizations in gift and estate planning, board development, volunteer management and overall strategic planning. He serves as a member of The Coaching Group, LLC, a national consortium of planned giving experts that empowers organizations to attain long-term financial sustainability, while sharing life-changing stewardship principles with donors.

Cliff began his career serving as a district executive and public relations coordinator for a 25-county region with the Boy Scouts of America. He later served as vice president of administration at the Oldham County Chamber of Commerce, working closely with numerous business, education, government and civic leaders. While at the Chamber, he founded Leadership Oldham County and the Oldham County Arts Association—both of which enjoy continued success today. In 2002, he founded and managed Louisville Christian Foundation, where he assisted high net worth donors in transferring over $6 million in assets to charitable causes. He went on to launch the first planned giving program for the WHAS Crusade for Children, growing their endowment to $7 million in assets. He also enjoyed success as vice president for development and communications at The Healing Place, before joining Whalin Public Relations full time. He has published several articles in Business First and is a frequent guest speaker to numerous trade and civic organizations.

Cliff is a Louisville native, a graduate of Ballard High School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Western Kentucky University. He and his wife Emily have two children and live in Crestwood, KY.
