 ECHO (Exploited Children's Help Organization) seeks an enthusiastic, well-organized person to coordinate volunteers for programs serving child abuse victims and their families. 

Victim Services Assistant Program Responsibilities:

Christie’s Kids In Court

  • Coordinate volunteers for court orientation program for child victims
  • Correspond with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office re: clients, referrals and staffing

Family Court Playroom

  • Train and coordinate volunteers as Playroom Monitors in the Family Court Children’s Playroom
  • Communicate with Family Court personnel

Identify Child Victims

  • Coordinate Teens Keeping Kids Safe
  • Coordinate a program to train high school seniors to identify child victims through a personal body safety lesson
  • Schedule programs at elementary schools

Missing Children

  • Schedule and train volunteers to assist CACU detectives in missing person report calls
  • Provide services to families of missing children

Victim Parent Support

  • Respond to crisis calls coming into the office
  • Assist clients with filing crime victim compensation claims

ECHO Soundings Newsletter

  • Coordinate ECHO Soundings committee meetings, volunteer writers, and editors
  • Ensure newsletter submissions, editing, printing and mailing are done by the deadlines

Additional Victim Services Assistant Duties

Supervise College Intern Students

  • Communicate with college counselors to recruit volunteers
  • Conduct interviews with recruits
  • Train intern students for all ECHO programs

Networking

  • Work with Executive Director to maintain good working relationships with other agencies
  • Attend local networking meetings monthly

Measured Outcomes

  • Maintain direct services and evaluation records for:
  • Parent Support                      
  • Christie’s Kids In Court        
  • CACU
  •  Family Court Playroom  
  • Identifying Child Victims in Schools   
  • Volunteer Hours

Volunteer Training and Coordination

  • Interview and train volunteers for specific programs
  • Work with other ECHO staff to coordinate volunteer activities

Professional Training

  • Study materials in ECHO Resource Library to become familiar with the issue of child victimization. 
  • Attend professional training annually. 

Any Other Activities As Requested by the Executive Director

Minimum Education/Work Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Comfortable working with children
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player with minimal supervision
  • This position requires outstanding organization skills
  • Assist other staff members and volunteers as needed
  • Current and valid driver’s license and liability insurance
  • This is a full-time position, and will require a minimum three-years commitment
  • ECHO is a small agency and does not provide group health insurance; a stipend is provided to help defray the cost of health insurance
  • ECHO provides disability insurance and mileage reimbursement
