University of Louisville - SOUL Day on August 20 - Do you need help? rss feed

We are very excited to invite you to participate in the University of Louisville's Welcome Week SOUL (Student Outreach Uniting Louisville). This annual program kicks off the academic year by uniting UofL students, faculty and staff in several service projects throughout the city of Louisville.  This is a fantastic event where hundreds of UL students, faculty and staff canvas the city and provide service to local nonprofits. They have seen an increasing number of students registering for SOUL and are trying to find more nonprofit sites that they can volunteer for.

The event will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. (with service projects beginning around 3:00 p.m.) Transportation to and from your site will be provided.

Each site will be responsible for providing all of their own materials for the project and water for the volunteers. Also, please note that each site should expect 10-20 volunteers to be present the day of the event. This is different than previous years, but our hope is that keeping projects to these numbers will help us better manage SOUL as the program grows.

Would your organization like to participate? It's easy! Just follow these steps:

1. Choose a service project. It can be anything you'd like from painting or landscaping to interacting with clients during a special program. Just make sure it can be done in about 3 hours, and can accommodate 10 to 20 volunteers!

2. Fill out http://louisville.edu/leadership/service-opportunities/soul/SOUL%20site%20registration and someone will contact you with additional information.

Move quickly because early registration has already begun! Please contact Toni Solis at 502-851-3436 or tjsoli01@louisville.edu, if you have any questions.
