The Leadership Louisville Center is now accepting nonprofits’ proposals for the Yum! IGNITES Louisville Challenge rss feed

For the second year, the Leadership Louisville Center is partnering with YUM! Brands, Inc. to present the Yum! IGNITES Louisville Challenge, the service learning component of the Ignite Louisville program for young professionals. 

Through the partnership, Ignite Louisville teams will put the leadership skills they learn in the program to work for a local nonprofit.  The Leadership Louisville Center is now accepting proposals from nonprofits for the Yum! IGNITES Louisville Challenge.  Nonprofits are encouraged to visit www.leadershiplouisville.org to learn more and submit proposals.

Leadership Louisville Center kicks off upcoming Yum! IGNITES Louisville Challenge with call for nonprofit proposals

Louisville, Kentucky (August 17, 2011) – YUM! Brands, Inc. and the Leadership Louisville Center are continuing their partnership for the 2012 Yum! IGNITES Louisville Challenge.  The challenge is an annual opportunity for teams of young professionals from the Ignite Louisville program to undertake a project for a local nonprofit, gaining experience in community leadership, board involvement and teamwork. 

Nonprofits interested in having a team of young professionals from the Ignite Louisville Class of 2012 partner with them on a project are invited to submit proposals. Since its inception in 2004, Ignite Louisville participants have worked with almost 50 area nonprofits to plan, execute and sustain new strategies for success.  Last year’s Ignite Louisville teams invested 4,000 hours in their partner organizations, averaging 575 per team.  The average value of their work was $40,000 according to the nonprofit partners. Many Ignite Louisville graduates have joined the boards of directors of their adopted nonprofit, helping to accelerate a generational change in leadership. 

About Ignite Louisville:

Presented by Norton Healthcare, Ignite Louisville is a seven-month program that grows young professionals by developing the key components of leadership. The Yum! IGNITES Louisville Challenge is the service learning component of the Leadership Louisville Center’s program.  The Center received the 2009 Pyramid Award for Excellence in the Art of Collaboration for the program, which pairs Ignite Louisville teams with Louisville area nonprofits to plan, execute and sustain new strategies for success. In return, Ignite Louisville participants gain experience in community leadership, board involvement and teamwork.  Additional partners and sponsors contributing to the program’s success include: Yum! Brands, Inc., Brown-Forman Corporation, Northwestern Mutual and UPS.  Ignite Louisville is also supported by the Young Professionals Association of Louisville (YPAL) and the Louisville Urban League Young Professionals (LULYP).
