MEDICARE OPEN ENROLLMENT

OCTOBER 15 - DECEMBER 7 is the new open enrollment period for Medicare Part D

Open enrollment for Medicare is earlier this year!   Representatives from Senior Medicare Patrol will be at UCHM to talk about Medicare including Part D, the prescription drug program.  If you have or are eligible for Medicare, you are eligible to join a Part D plan. You must join a private insurance plan to get Medicare’s drug coverage.  Plans must accept everyone who is eligible and enrolls, but you can only join at certain times of the year.  Most people can join or change Part D plans during the annual election period from October 15th to December 7th, with coverage effective on January 1, 2012.  If you have never signed up for Part D, this is the perfect opportunity to do so.  Medicare representatives will be here to help you choose the right program for you.  You will need to bring a complete list of your medications.  If you are currently enrolled in a plan but have had changes in your medication since enrollment, you can get a review to see if your current program is right for you.  Medicare representatives do not work for any insurance company.  The Medicare Part D website will sort through the insurance options and make a recommendation based on your current medications.
