The Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNPE) is now accepting nominations for the 2008 Pyramid Awards for Excellence in Leadership through September 16, 2008. The Awards will be presented at the Eighth Annual Leadership and Awards Conference on November 5, 2008.
About the Awards The Pyramid Awards for Excellence are designed to recognize the essential value of our region’s nonprofit sector. CNPE is pleased to recognize commanding contributions by nonprofit organizations in five areas: Collaboration, Diversity, Governance, Leadership, and Vision.
¨ Pyramid Awards for Collaboration, Diversity, and Vision are presented to a NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION.
¨ Pyramid Award for Governance is presented to a GOVERNING BOARD of a NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION.
¨ The Pyramid Award for Leadership is presented to an INDIVIDUAL.
Each of the recipients will receive a commemorative and financial award, and will be recognized during a luncheon presentation at the CNPE Annual Conference on November 5, 2008.
Description of Awards Categories
The Pyramid Award for Collaboration
“When love and skill work together, expect a masterpiece”. –John Ruskin
This award honors two or more nonprofit organizations that have:
§ developed a common vision and shared values
§ addressed training, team building, and power sharing issues
§ generated outcomes that were improved by the collaboration
§ realized savings through collaboration

This award honors a nonprofit organization that has:
§ defined ways in which multicultural participation within the organization or among program participants have fostered better outcomes.
§ embraced diversity in its staff and clients
§ generated strength through diversity in governance and service

§ displayed an outstanding level of participation and partnership with their organization
§ provided active oversight of mission, planning and program outcomes
§ contributed toward financial health of the organization

Nomination Procedures
CNPE’s Awards Committee welcomes nominations of organizations that reflect the broad spectrum of the independent sector in the types of services provided and constituencies served.
§ The achievements of the candidate organization should include relatively recent occurrences.
§ Nominated organizations/individuals must be nonprofit organizations and CNPE members.
§ Organizations may self-nominate, or be nominated by a third party.
§ The total length of the nomination narrative should not exceed three pages nor use a font smaller than twelve-point.
§ The committee will base its decision primarily on the information provided in the narrative.
To nominate a candidate for one or more Pyramid Award(s), please complete sections 1-6 of the Narrative (see application format below). Applications should be no longer than three pages in length. CNPE’s awards committee will select recipients.
