"Meeting the Needs of Tomorrow with the Talent of Today"

June 23, 24, & 25, 2010

8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday

8:45 a.m. to Noon Friday

The Center for Nonprofit Excellence's (CNPE) Emerging Executives Institute is designed to educate and empower Louisville's next generation of nonprofit leaders. An intensive, multi-faceted, three-day practicum, this program identifies strong leadership behaviors and provides a solid foundation for participants to lead and manage nonprofit organizations. Specifically, the curriculum will focus on individual leadership styles and building the skills needed to become successful executives in nonprofit organizations.

Participants will complete the Leadership Practives Inventory (LPI) assessment and recruit colleagues for an external assessment prior to the classroom experience.

Wednesday, June 23, 2010-All About Your Leadership Potential

The first day is devoted to understanding the leadership landscape among nonprofits both nationally and in the Louisville area. We will discuss qualities and qualifications that nonprofits are looking for as they plan for succession. Additionally, participants will learn more about their scores on the Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) and how those strengths and opportunities for improvement reflect their potential capacity to lead.

Thursday, June 24, 2010-Transformation: Leadership Success

Participants will learn firsthand the traits and skills that are needed to be successful executives based upon research and from the insights that guest speaker executives will offer to the group. The group will explore topics such as challenges of executive leadership and how that translates, in practical terms, into best practices for nonprofit management.

Friday, June 25, 2010-Connecting It All

Drawing on the experiences and insights from day one and two, the final session is devoted to developing each person's path for change and growth in preparation for future leadership roles in the sector.

Scholarships are available for CNPE member organizations. Please contact Merv Antonio at mantonio@cnpe.org for additional information on scholarships.

Registration includes all course materials, continental breakfast, lunch, and snacks for all three days. You are welcome to bring your own snacks to meet dietary requirements as a refrigerator is available onsite. Deadline to register is May 28, 2010.

Getting to the Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNPE) is easy. We are located on the south side of downtown Louisville, KY in the restored ArtSpace building located at 323 West Broadway. You may enter ArtSpace just left of the Brown Theatre marquee. Signage will direct you to the first floor Fifth Third Conference Room. CNPE encourages all its visitors to access public transit as there are several convenient TARC bus routes within a short walk of our location. To find the TARC ride nearest you visit, www.ridetarc.org.

Are you a cycling guest? Bring your bicycle to the fifth floor for storage during your visit.

Should you drive to our location, there is ample parking within a two block radius including structures, surface lots and metered spaces. Due to the economic realities we all face, the Center for Nonprofit Excellence will be unable to validate parking. While we regret this financial necessity, we need to expend all of our resources where they matter most -- toward the highest level of quality services possible.
