Disaster Philanthropy | SBA PPP loan rules simplified

Disaster philanthropy from both the funder and the nonprofit sides
CDP logoAt 3 PM this Thursday, April 9, we will engage with the Washington-based Center for Disaster Philanthropy on Effective Philanthropy During a Pandemic Crisis. This CEO Roundtable webinar will help both nonprofits and funders understand the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on communities and needs for immediate response and recovery. We will address how to prioritize activities and funds, ideas for best practices for funders, and key areas of need. You can register here.

The PPP Loan terms + process
CNPE is helping you with a simplified version of the SBA’s Q&As for borrowers from its Interim Final Rule. We also changed our Excel worksheet for computing your PPP payroll costs and loan amounts. Details here.

This week’s webinars
This week, we have three more free webinars: two CEO Roundtable webinars and a third put on by Mutual of America that we recommend:

  • At noon on Wednesday, April 8, Mauri Malka (MSSW, LCSW), Senior Director of Programs at Jewish Family & Career Services will explore how to combat isolation among seniors by Setting Up a Telephone Reassurance Program. She will cover setting up a program, guidelines for training, assessment, measurement, and confidentiality. Register here.
  • (We featured Thursday’s webinar with the Center for Disaster Philanthropy above.)
  • At 9 AM on Friday, April 10, Steve Yards, CEBS CRPS, of Mutual of America will walk us through the CARES Act Impact on 401(k) and 403(b) Plans in a WebEx webinar. With our entire economy contracting so quickly and dramatically, employers and employees alike will be scrambling to figure out how to fund and maintain these essential retirement plans. On Friday, just before 9 AM, log in here; the meeting access code is 617 484 052; password is WnxAaB2P@23.

As usual, we are very grateful for our volunteers and sponsors who make these free webinars possible.

Queen Elizabeth IICNPE Self-Care Tip: Take Queen Elizabeth’s advice, raise your head, and look ahead to more connected times. In a rare TV address yesterday, Her Royal Highness offered this encouragement: “We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return. We will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again.”

Hang in there. We can do this together. And CNPE has your back.

My best,

Ann L. Coffey, CEO
