Daniela Lewy, MPH, EdLD, Managing Partner, Social Determinants of Health Consulting, LLC

Daniela Lewy is a systems leader who spent the past 20 years addressing education inequities, health disparities, and income inequality through research, policy, and practice. She is currently a managing partner at Social Determinants of Health Consulting, applying a multi-sector approach to improve outcomes for children and families.

Prior to this position, Dr. Lewy was a political appointee in Governor Terry McAuliffe’s administration, serving as executive director of the Virginia Governor’s Children’s Cabinet where she aligned interagency state resources, policies, and programs to ensure that Virginia’s most vulnerable children and families can thrive. She worked across four secretariats, 19 state agencies, and over 150 programs to create sustainable cross-sector partnerships that connected local communities to state supports. Dr. Lewy was formerly an International Health faculty member at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, researching and teaching at the intersection of health, education, and workforce development throughout Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

She is also the co-founder of Thrival World Academies, a network of free, publicly funded, credit-bearing, study abroad high schools for students from low-income neighborhoods.

Dr. Lewy holds a bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University, a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, and a doctorate in Education Leadership from Harvard University.
