Destination: Excellence is the ideal opportunity for nonprofit executive leaders who are new to the ED/CEO role or who want to be sure they have a solid understanding of all major aspects of nonprofit management. This intensive learning and leadership development program delivers 45 hours of actionable content over 6 full days (and a half day) in a six-month time period.

Destination: Excellence curriculum draws upon CNPE’s extensive expertise, research, and knowledge of nonprofit leadership in our dynamic sector. Your experience in this program will be enriched by the collective wisdom of your fellow participants, which will create a powerful space for you to learn and grow as a leader. Further, with our 360-leadership assessment, you will have the opportunity to think about yourself as a whole person leader, who is equipped and empowered to influence your organization and those you serve in a more impactful way.

Led by an experienced group of nonprofit executives and subject matter experts, Destination: Excellence covers the following topics:

  • The role of the Executive Director/CEO
  • Leadership vs. Management
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Board best practices and healthy and effective Board/ED relationships
  • Fundraising strategies and best practices
  • Nonprofit marketing and communications
  • Financial management and fiscal planning
  • Staff and/or volunteer engagement
  • Strategic Thinking and Planning

Class size is limited to allow an intimate cohort of leaders to address each participant’s own organizational challenges through problem-solving exercises, role-play, presentation, and discussion. You’ll walk away with lots of practical materials, real-world advice, a cohort of peers, and countless strategies to help you and your organization succeed.

Who should attend?

Destination: Excellence is for Executive Directors/CEOs that are currently in that position, or senior level leadership staff who could benefit from curriculum.

This program is ideal for you if:

You are a new nonprofit Executive Director/CEO (in the position for three years or less).

You are a more experienced senior level leadership executive (Development Director, Finance Director, COO) who wants to jumpstart your leadership by participating in a thought-provoking and growth-focused program.

This course includes:

Six and half days of interactive learning, peer discussion, and real-time application from leadership and subject matter experts

A DataMax 360 Degree Leadership Assessment ($250 value) that will help you to better understand how you show up as a leader in six key nonprofit leadership competency areas. The 360 Assessment will measure your current effectiveness in these key competency areas and opportunities for continued growth.

The opportunity to connect with and learn alongside a cohort of other nonprofit leaders.

Nutritious lunches during each session day, as well as snacks and drinks throughout the day to keep you energized.
