Instructors: Amy Pottts and Allison Crawford
Volunteers are the heart of our work in nonprofits, especially in times of crisis. Many of you may be working to redesign volunteer programs to achieve your mission while keeping volunteers safe. Join staff from Serve Kentucky to learn more about resources for safe volunteer engagement in times of disaster including:
- Tools, resources and best practices for managing volunteers in response to the COVID-19 response including Volunteer Kentucky a volunteer recruitment and management platform available to Kentucky nonprofits and agencies for free of charge through Serve Kentucky
- The Points of Light Service Enterprise method for designing virtual volunteering opportunities including the inclusion of skills-based volunteers
Serve Kentucky is the State Commission on Service and Volunteerism, and a Points of Light Foundation Service Enterprise certified organization and training Hub.
Presenters for the webinar are Amy Potts, Volunteer Development Coordinator who manages the Service Enterprise Initiative, a volunteer management certification program of the Points of Light Foundation. Previously, Amy worked in nonprofit management providing educational workshops and technical assistance for nonprofit organizations, and local governments.
Allison Crawford, VGF Program Associate has broad experience across the nonprofit spectrum. She has reported and produced for public radio, coordinated volunteers for a women’s shelter, coordinated communications for the Kentucky Equal Justice Center, and served two years as an AmeriCorps VISTA. This experience has given her a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by organizations and the many ways in which volunteers are essential to nonprofit resiliency.
