Job Description

The National Center for Families Learning (NCFL), located in Louisville, KY, is in search of a Controller. NCFL envisions a world in which all families are provided opportunities to improve their lives and become strong contributors to society. As the Controller, this person would lead the accounting/finance department under the guidance of the CFO.

Duties and Responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Oversee the activities of the accounting/finance department and team members, under the guidance of the Chief Financial Officer
  • Coordinate the organization’s financial affairs according to financial principles and government regulations
  • Direct and plan the maintenance of fiscal records and preparation of financial reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position
  • Manage funds and inform fund managers of progress and areas of concern
  • Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of systems, processes and data
  • Enhance the organization’s value by improving efficiencies
  • Develop, direct and prepare financial analyses of operations for guidance of management
  • Attend and assist with the annual Families Learning Conference

Salary Range: $50,000 - $75,000

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • At least 8 years of hands-on accounting and at least 5 years managerial experience
  • Non-profit or government experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Great Plains or similar accounting software and Microsoft Office products 
  • Demonstrated experience working with fund accounting
  • Experience managing comprehensive funds with strategic focus
