Reporting to the President’s Office, the Director of Accessibility will work closely with all departments of APH. The Director of Accessibility will provide guidance and counsel on accessibility issues and participate in developing, coordinating, implementing and tracking solutions to accessibility needs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Educates APH community regarding accessibility through appropriate outreach; Maintain good working relationships and attend meetings of organizations representing people with disabilities and other accessibility advisors and consultants. Represent APH as a national leader in accessibility standards.
- Communicates accessibility standards, projects, and initiatives to departments. Design and implement communication avenues to receive and share information about accessibility internally and externally.
- Acts as a resource/referral, and develop and organize company-wide resources. Work with the Accessibility Committee to research and compile a directory of access services and equipment within APH. Update resources list periodically or as needed.
- Serves as the main contact person for accessibility questions, concerns and requests of aids or services such as ASL interpreting, human guides, braille materials etc.
- Assists in resolving accessibility issues through consultation, diagnosis and resolution.
- Leads the APH Accessibility Committee.
- Works on special projects as needed.
- Coordinates with all departments, employees, and visitors to provide Accessibility Services for their internal and external meetings/events. Ensure compliance with APH accessibility policies and procedures.
- Maintains knowledge of current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations to serve as a technical consultant in the area of accessibility and ADA compliance on behalf of American Printing House.
- Participates in and communicates with local organizations serving communities with disabilities to further grassroots marketing of Accessibility Services.
- Maintains awareness of Accessibility Services throughout the region and the nation.
- Communicates effectively with visitors utilizing Accessibility Services when attending tours and events as needed.

- Stays abreast of the industry and works to expand current Accessibility Services programs to provide services above and beyond ADA compliance.
- Assists with implementation and maintenance of the APH Intranet and bulletin boards throughout the facility.
- Develops accessibility educational materials.
- Provides accessibility 101 training to APH Employees on providing quality customer service to visitors/customers with disabilities.

Education, Training, and Experience Requirements:
- Prior experience working in an access or related program. Demonstrated knowledge of the ADA and Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act and all amendments, arts access programs and issues.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in experience: Minimum of two years’ experience in the field of accessibility.
- Ability to travel occasionally to conferences and seminars.
- Must be a self-starter.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Comfortable leading discussions and presenting on relevant topics.
- Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with people in the community; ability to work independently.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Access, Power Point, and Excel
- Knowledge and experience with assistive technologies (e.g. screen readers, speech input devices, and text readers) preferred.
- Bilingual skills are a plus (fluency in American Sign Language, Spanish, or other)
