Job Description:

The Program Manager ensures the smooth delivery of Earth and Spirit Center programming (including programs for alumni), assists with marketing efforts, and manages volunteers.

Job Requirements:

Classification and Compensation

  • Part-time (average of 20 hours per week), 12 months per year, hourly, limited benefits
  • Wage is commensurate with experience

Reporting Responsibility

  • Reports to Executive Director

Supervision Responsibility

  • Volunteer supervision; no direct reports

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Management

  • Program Logistics
    • Ensure the smooth delivery of Earth and Spirit Center programming:
      • Coordinate with faculty and instructors to provide accurate course descriptions and other content for brochures, flyers, website, and social media
      • In collaboration with Administrative Assistant, ensure that course information is properly entered into data tracking software
      • Assist as necessary with program registration process
      • Coordinate with Administrative Assistant and other staff to ensure physical space is properly prepared for classes and groups.
      • Administer regular evaluations for Earth & Spirit Center programs
      • Plan and host at least two faculty meetings per year
  • Alumni Programs: with guidance from executive director and alumni relations board committee, coordinate programs to engage current Earth & Spirit Center participants and alumni in service, financial support, continuing education, and community building.

Outreach and Marketing

  • In collaboration with the Director of Communication and other staff, implement effective strategies to promote Earth & Spirit Center programs
  • Network with community leaders and other organizations to promote the Earth & Spirit Center mission and programming, including exhibiting at outside events

Volunteer Management

  • Recruit volunteers from Earth & Spirit Center participants and local community
  • Provide volunteer opportunities and coordinate volunteers to staff them
  • Track and report volunteer hours
  • Provide opportunities to thank and recognize volunteers

Other duties as required, including general office administration tasks when necessary.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Education or experience in event management and promotion, administration, and volunteer management.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Computer proficiency with email, Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint), Google Docs, cloud-based file sharing, and digital social media in a Windows environment. Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms is not a pre-requisite but is preferred and will be necessary to learn.
  • Professional demeanor, strong work ethic and the ability both to self-direct and to collaborate with others in a small, busy, open office environment
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with modern marketing techniques including digital social media, ad words, I.P. targeting, etc.
  • Knowledge about and passion for issues of spirituality, social justice, an environmental sustainability, social justice and spirituality, especially mindfulness meditation
  • Respect for various religious traditions and diverse culture
