Job Description

Under the direction of the Program Director, the Teen Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing all programming related to middle and high school youth members, with a focus on college and career preparation.  

  • Supports the mission, vision, and philosophy of Neighborhood House as evidenced by compliance with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership and positive interaction with others as evidenced by: professional maturity, respect for others, a team-centered approach, maintenance of confidential information, and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.
  • Exhibits effective communication skills internally and externally including proper use of agency communication systems.
  • Exhibits sound stewardship by effectively managing financial resources, information resources, and physical resources to achieve the objectives of Neighborhood House.
  • Performs job duties (serves) in a way that supports Neighborhood House values Respect, Integrity, Service, and Education (R.I.S.E).
  • Salary Range: < $35,000

    Job Requirements:

    Description of Essential Functions:                                                                           

  • Plans, implements, and organizes all programming in relation to middle and high school youth, including, but not limited to Cheers for Careers, Youth Leadership Council, and Boys2Men/Girls2 Women.
  • Creates and develops activities and programs that promote YDP Program Pillars: College & Career Readiness, Civic Engagement, Leadership, and Academic Excellence.
  • Ensures programs and activities are age appropriate and appeal to teen interests. Communicates regularly with the Director to gain approval for all activities and lessons.
  • Works alongside the Education Coordinator to facilitate ACT/SAT prep, organize college tours, homework and tutoring assistance, and promote lifelong learning.
  • Models and fosters a culture of good character, positive attitude, and service.
  • Utilizing the idea of "youth voice", creates and implements programs that are youth driven.
  • Establishes rapport with teens and provide mentoring, guidance, role modeling to members. Provides overall direction for their leadership development, artistic skills, physical activity engagement, and academic progress.
  • Supports members emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
  • Submits regular lesson plans, attendance sheets, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Plans and organizes special events as needed, per guidance and approval from the Director of YDP. Collaborates with other staff and when appropriate, other community organizations.      
  • Maintains cleanliness and order of Teen Room and all supplies and equipment, noting areas of concern and needs as they arise.       
  • Regularly updates bulletin boards, fliers/promotions, and displays that encourage teen participation and achievements. 
  • Transports members in the organization's vehicle to outside activities such as field trips, career shadowing, and college visits.
  • Participates in program/service outcome measurement processes and other program evaluations. Assists with ensuring that all required assessments are completed on middle and high school youth.
  • Participates in training and staff development activities as required.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Youth Development
